Verizon IndyCar Series producing improved numbers for NBC Sports Group

Sunday’s race from Mid-Ohio gives NBCSN its best TV numbers for series

The Verizon IndyCar Series is trending up with the NBC Sports Group.


According to TV viewership numbers released by the network on Monday, Sunday’s IndyCar Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, which was simulcast on NBCSN and CNBC produced a 0.62 overnight rating to rank as the top IndyCar overnight rating for NBC Sports Group since acquiring IndyCar rights in 2009.


The rating number surpasses last year’s season finale at Sonoma on NBCSN, which delivered a 0.59 overnight rating. Through six races on NBCSN to date (not including Mid-Ohio — final numbers for that race are expected Tuesday), the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series has averaged 433,000 viewers, up 16 percent through six races in 2015.
