Justin Allgaier clinched a spot in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship race on Saturday at Phoenix Raceway but will have to compete next weekend without crew chief Jason Burdett.

NASCAR discovered an unsealed brake cooling hose after the Ticket Galaxy 200, an L1 penalty, meaning that Burdett will be suspended and fined $10,000. Additionally, Allgaier was docked 10 points but that wasn’t enough to knock him out of the Championship Race.

JR Motorsports may appeal the penalty leading up to the weekend in the attempts to regain the on-track services of Burdett.

Allgaier is one of three JR Motorsports drivers to qualify for the final four. The others are William Byron and Elliott Sadler. They will be opposed by Richard Childress Racing rookie Daniel Hemric.
