WTHR TV in Indianapolis is reporting that former racer John Andretti is battling stage 4 colon cancer.
Andretti, who is a nephew of racing legend Mario Andretti and the son of Mario’s twin brother, Aldo, lives in North Carolina.
The report followed Jonn Andretti to a hospital for treatment.
“Chemo sucks a lot,” Andretti says. “I don’t think anybody walks out saying, ‘Man this is great. Give me more!'”
Andretti, 54, drove in several series. He made 393 starts with two victories in the NASCAR Cup Series between 1993 and 2010. He also made 12 Indianapolis 500 starts and finished a career-best fifth in 1991. His final Indy 500 start came in 2011.
